Some in Washington think our rights are given by government and that government can take them away to satisfy powerful special interests. This is no more evident than in the so-called “DISCLOSE Act” which is backed by liberal special interests and union bosses. Passed yesterday by the U.S. House, the DISCLOSE Act is a response to the Supreme Court ruling in the Citizen’s United case that restored our fundamental rights that had been taken away by federal campaign finance laws. In this case (and just like the health care bill), being bipartisan meant voting no.
Don’t get me wrong. I believe in full disclosure, but the system should be fair and equitable, not favoring unions OR corporations. It shouldn’t be burdensome and it shouldn’t infringe on our Constutional rights. But Gary Peters and Nancy Pelosi don’t care about our rights — they care about carving out exemptions for special interests. No matter what party does it, it’s wrong. And it’s no wonder Congress and the White House can’t seem to figure out what to do about the economy — they’re too busy expanding government and taking away our rights.
That’s what’s wrong with Washington. and that’s why I am working so hard to go to Washington to work for you. But, to get there, we need your help.

Doesn’t it seem like the world is coming apart at the seams? Oil is gushing into the Gulf of Mexico and our government is powerless to stop it.

Generals are complaining about politicians and politicians are scheming to drag our country even deeper into debt. Behind closed doors, special interest lobbyists are putting the finishing touches on a so-called “financial reform” bill filled with loopholes that will force Main Street to bail out Wall Street all over again.
Our nation voted for hope and change when what we really need is leadership. Without the true leadership needed to make the tough decisions to cut spending and reduce government, the nation we love will continue spiralling out of control.
Like you, I am frustrated with Washington, but with your help, we can send a message to the politicians and special interests. I have hope because I’m knocking on doors across the district and virtually everyone I talk to is ready to stand up and be counted — as patriots and as Americans who want their country back. Join us.
