ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

For Rocky, illegal immigration has three distinct components. First, fairness dictates that immigrants who have followed the law, waited in line, and met all the requirements of citizenship should be welcomed with open arms for they are a critical component of the melting pot that makes America a great nation. Rocky believes strongly that those who have come here illegally, who work illegally, and who break the law should be deported and denied any government benefits.

Second, given that our economy is in recession, every job is precious and every job taken by an illegal immigrant is one that could be filled by an American citizen or by a person who is here legally. Rocky supports federal efforts such as the E-Verify program to make sure that all workers are legal and have the appropriate documentation because if illegals can’t work here they won’t come here.

Third, preventing illegal immigration is a national security issue. A fundamental responsibility of government is defending our borders and protecting American citizens from foreign threats, including illegal immigrants who engage in other crimes, from identity theft to terrorism. Rocky will be a strong advocate for measures to keep our border secure and our people safe.
