WASTEFUL WASHINGTON SPENDING
Rocky is just as frustrated as you are with politicians of both parties who dole out billions to special interests and expect our children to foot the bill. As a result of bloated and ineffective programs like the stimulus package, the deficit this year was $1.4 trillion and the national debt is projected to double over the next decade. In fact, each and every day, our government is spending $4 billion more than it takes in. This is unsustainable and threatens to bankrupt our nation. That’s why Rocky believes that our government must stop printing money and start living within its means.
Just as all of us must make difficult spending decisions for our family budgets, we must do the same with the federal budget and limit federal spending to no more than what the government takes in. Rocky believes that a ban on earmarks and transparency in the federal budget, including a 72-hour window for review of all bills before final passage, are important steps that are needed to stop wasteful spending. In addition, every program funded by the federal government must include accountability provisions, requiring achievement of specific goals before funding can be continued.
